Cape Kiwanda State Park
Cape Kiwanda is the southern most cape of the 3 capes scenic drive.  It is the smallest of the 3 capes, but offers the most diverse day usage. Besides the view on the peninsula, it offers a huge dune for climbing, jumping, and hang gliding. It is also home to the pristine Kiwanda Marine Gardens with tidal pools and marine creatures.

Whalen Island Park & Campground
Located just 4.5 miles north of Pacific City on the 3 Capes Scenic Loop.  Whalen Island is an 8-acre overnight campground and is surrounded on three sides by the Sand Lake Estuary and abuts an Oregon State Park Natural Area of 200 acre. Shore birds and Bald Eagles are common sights.  Park facilities consist of 30 campsites (no hookups), but does have dump station, restrooms, fishing, crabbing, swimming and hiking. Pets are allowed on leash.  Open all year.  Fees start at $10 per night; there are extra vehicle and tent charges.  Wood is available for purchase during the summer. The climate at Sand Lake has strong marine influences. Summers are cool and winters are moderate. Westerly winds predominate -- from the northwest during the summer and from the southwest in the winter. These winds from the ocean bring heavy rainfall in the winter and fog in the summer.
